Situated on the gorgeous North Coast, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the rugged coastline, the little town of Portrush has been a ‘must visit’ destination for families in Northern Ireland for generations.

Currys Fun Park, previously known as Barry’s Portrush, has seen a change of hands, with a new owner at the helm from 2022. Since Barry’s opened its doors in 1926, it’s been locally renowned as fun for all the family, so we decided to take a day trip and fill you in on what to expect from a fab day out on Northern Irelands North Coast.

Seasonal Opening

Before planning your trip to Currys Fun Park Portrush, something to be mindful of is its seasonal opening hours. Like most businesses in the town, it runs seasonal opening times and closes during some of the winter months. 

We suggest keeping an eye on their social media pages to find the opening times or their website. Also, when choosing your date to visit, you might like to consider the peak times of the park, especially in the high season. During these times there can be queues both to enter the park and also for each ride individually.

Getting there

Depending on where you are travelling from, there are many options for how to get to Currys Fun Park Portrush. 

Driving To Currys Fun Park

Should you choose to drive to Portrush, be mindful that Currys Fun Park is situated in the heart of the town itself. Portrush is on a Peninsula, which means its town centre operates a one way system of traffic. Car parking is therefore quite competitive so ensure arriving early and be prepared to walk a short distance to get from your car to the park on Eglinton Street. 

Parking Options are plenty, we recommend:

• Dunluce Avenue
• West Strand
• East Strand

These offer close proximity and walking distance to Currys Fun Park, however be aware that the East Strand is furthest away, around twelve minutes depending on walking pace. 

Public Transport

Portrush’s train station is conveniently located a five minute walk to Currys Fun Park, making it a great option for families that might have prams, buggies or bags with them. Trains operate regularly via Translink and also buses. 

Tokens

The park operates a ‘pay as you go’ system, with no entry fee into the park itself. For the rides you must purchase tokens for payment. These can be bought inside the park at a number of different booths.

For those of you seeking something a little less action packed but still fun, the bumper cars at Currys Fun Park Portrush offer lots of laughs. Experiencing the absolute chaos of the bumper cars will leave a smile on all faces, young and old.
