The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is located in the Caribbean Sea and it includes two islands and several small islands. Its land area is about 5,128 square km and it is ranked 175th in the world in terms of area. Trinidad and Tobago is located near the continent of South America, specifically near Venezuela, which is only 11 km away.

Trinidad was discovered by Christopher Columbus during his expedition in the discovery of the New World on the 31st of July 1498, and Tobago was discovered at the same time when Trinidad was discovered and it was named Bella Forma and Tobago comes from tobacco that was grown in the country.

In 1531, settlement and stability began in the country, and in 1608 James I declared sovereignty over the country, and the island of Tobago was given to the Dutch, the French, and the British, and then it was a refuge for pirates. Maracas Bay in Trinidad

Maracas Bay is one of the famous beaches in Trinidad, it is about 40 minutes away by car from Port of Spain the capital city of Trinidad and Tobago and while driving through the mountainous rainforest you will be able to see a spectacular view. Mount St. Benedict Monastery in Trinidad

The Mount St. Benedict Monastery is one of the famous attractions that you can visit at the east of Port of Spain and it was constructed in 1912. The monastery is considered the oldest and largest one in the Caribbean and the complex contains a farm, guest house, and religious buildings.

Little Tobago Island

In the Caribbean, the island of Tobago is one of the most famous and important sea bird sanctuaries, the island is uninhabited and it contains several km of trails. When you are on the island go to the hilltops and see a wonderful view from there and you can also see many kinds of birds such as red-billed tropical birds, frigate birds, and about 50 more species that live on this island.

Another top attraction in Tobago is the Fort of King George, it was built in the 18th century, located on Scarborough Bay and it is considered the most well-preserved fort on the island. From the fort, you will be able to see a beautiful view of the town and the sea with lovely trees and plants surrounding the place.

When you visit the fort you will see that the original bricks and stone walls are still there, also a prison, old cannons, and a lighthouse. Also, you can visit the Tobago Museum and see many collections of African Arts, coins, antique maps, shells, and more. 

Caroni Bird Sanctuary in Trinidad
