Kiribati is officially the Republic of Kiribati. It is an island country located in the central Pacific Ocean. It consists of 33 islands. 20 of these islands are inhabited. They are spread over a massive area of the ocean. Kiribati stretches 1,800 miles eastward from the 16 Gilbert Islands. The population is concentrated in 3 of the 16 Gilbert Islands.
